On September 12, 2024 at the Murmansk regional children and youth library named after V.P. Makhaeva, Vadim Ulanov, regional representative of LLC Kolskaya WPP, held a meeting with participants of the All-Russian festival of energy saving and ecology #TogetherBrighter. The event was held with the support of the Centre for civic and patriotic education for children and teenagers ‘In the North - to live!’ and the Government of the Murmansk region.
The main objectives of the festival include increasing children's interest in the topic of resource conservation, green energy, and environmental protection, as well as expanding key knowledge of new promising technologies used in the energy sector. The main principles of electric power industry development today are modernization of network infrastructure and generating capacities in accordance with market requirements, including by increasing the share of renewable energy sources in production.
Such ambitious and large-scale project in the field of ‘green’ generation is the Kola Wind Farm of PJSC EL5-Energo - the most powerful wind farm beyond the Arctic Circle in the world. The planned output of the wind farm is about 750 million kWh per year, which theoretically allows to cover electricity needs of a city with a population of about 100 thousand people. According to the speaker, such ‘clean’ energy is the basis of the city of the future. In the future, the usual urban space will be a single ecosystem, where the integration of new technologies, rational approaches to waste management, as well as effective resource management and application of sustainable development principles, will significantly reduce harmful emissions, creating a comfortable environment for the main beneficiary - its residents.
